Xiaomi 17 Ultra Launched in China – Flagship Camera Phone with 200MP Periscope and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
Hey everyone, December 27, 2025 – Xiaomi just launched the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China. This is the top model in the 17 series. It focuses heavily on cameras and performance.
Here are the main specifications.
Display
It has a 6.9-inch 1.5K LTPO flat AMOLED panel from TCL CSOT (M10 material). Refresh rate goes up to 120Hz. Brightness reaches 1060 nits in high brightness mode. The glass is called Xiaomi Shield Glass 3 (also known as Dragon Crystal Glass 3). It is flat, not curved.
Performance
The chip is Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. RAM is LPDDR5X Ultra type. Storage is UFS 4.1. GPU is Adreno 840. It runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3.
Cameras
This is the strong part.
Rear triple setup:
- 50MP main sensor – 1-inch size, Omnivision Light Hunter 1050L, LOFIC technology, OIS
- 50MP ultrawide – Samsung JN5
- 200MP periscope telephoto – Samsung S5KHPE, 3.2x to 4.3x continuous optical zoom (75mm to 100mm range), three-group floating lens design
Front camera is 50MP Omnivision OV50M.
Battery and Charging
Battery capacity is 6800mAh. Wired charging is 90W. Wireless charging is 50W. The port is USB 3.2 Gen 2 – faster data transfer than usual.

My Thoughts
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra looks like a proper camera flagship. The 200MP periscope with continuous zoom between 3.2x and 4.3x should give good results for portraits and distant shots. The 1-inch main sensor is large, so low-light photos should be strong.
Performance is top-level with the new Snapdragon chip. Battery is decent at 6800mAh, and charging speeds are fast.
The phone is not too thick or heavy for its specs. Flat display will suit people who prefer no curved edges.
Price is high, but that is normal for Ultra models. We will see if Xiaomi brings it to India at a similar converted price or adjusts it.
