The Supreme Court of India has cancelled 122 2G licenses issued by the Government on after 10th Jan 2008. This cancellation affects customers of Uninor, Videocon, MTS , Loop Telecom , Etisalat , Idea Cellular, STel and Tata Docomo in 22 circles. The court order will come into effect in 4 months and you might have to use MNP to port your number to another operator who is not affected. The cancelled licenses include those issued to Uninor (22), Videocon (21) , Loop Telecom (21), MTS (21), Etisalat (15) , Idea Cellular (13) , S-Tel (6) and Tata Docomo (3).This move is seen as boost to other operators like early entrants like Airtel and Vodafone. We will be publishing the list of circles shortly to help you find out if you are affected. |
